University of Liverpool (Veterinary Postgraduate Unit)

Whether you want to study for a CertAVP or postgraduate degree, to develop your clinical skills as a veterinary surgeon, or to train in veterinary business management, we have courses and modules available to suit you.

RCVS CertAVP modules

We offer Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) approved assessment in provision of the CertAVP for small animal, large animal and equine vets across the globe. All modules are supported by practitioners and specialists in our Leahurst hospitals and farms.

Our modules are in a flexible format combining distance education and online technology to create a unique supportive learning environment. All of the CertAVP modules are accredited at Masters level with PgCert, PgDip and MSc degree award options using the same flexible distance-learning online format, meaning all delegates completing a CertAVP have the option to continue in a postgraduate taught programme towards a higher degree.

All of the modules can also be completed as a “CPD only” option for veterinarians simply wishing to improve their clinical skills without working towards a University of Liverpool or RCVS award, but this option must be specified at enrolment.

Veterinary Business Management

We have the UK’s only bespoke business management qualification for veterinary businesses, led by Em. Professor Catherine McGowan programme director. Delegates wishing to work towards a University of Liverpool Certificate in Veterinary Business Management can take advantage of our flexible online modules designed for the working professional.

Online CPD Mini-Modules

Our new range of Online CPD mini-modules have been developed for and aimed towards the more experienced veterinary surgeon. If you have completed a CertAVP or are an Advanced Practitioner, or are an experienced practitioner and feel you are currently working at this level, these modules are a great way to support your CPD requirements for the year or maintain your Advanced Practitioner status.

These 100% online modules will provide you with 25 hours of designation specific CPD. Over four weeks each mini module will cover a different weekly topic in an area in which there may have been changes, advances or controversy in recent years.

Day and evening courses

We run a full calendar of one and two-day CPD workshops, which take place at our Leahurst Campus, near Chester, using our modern training suites and referral hospitals.
